GEM (Ecosysteem Mentale Gezondheid) houdt zich sinds 2020 bezig met de uitdaging om de visie op psychisch lijden vanuit De Nieuwe ggz in co-creatie te bewijzen, organiseren en financieren.
De GEM hypothese is dat de zorg niet verbetert door de match van de vraag met het bestaande ggz aanbod te optimaliseren (selectie of aanbodgericht), maar door in gezamenlijkheid een antwoord te formuleren op de vraag van de cliënt. Dat antwoord moet gevonden worden in een veel ruimer palet van mogelijke interventies dan momenteel geboden wordt (diversificatie). Dat vraagt om een verruiming van zinvolle en relevante interventies. Hierbij betrekt GEM nadrukkelijk ook ervaringsdeskundigheid, welzijnsaanbod en aanbod uit het publieke domein.
GEM geeft sinds januari 2022 stapsgewijs in 6 regio’s in Nederland (de Achterhoek, Midden-IJssel, de Noordwestelijke Veluwe, Amsterdam Zuidoost, het Rijk van Nijmegen, Groningen) vorm aan lokale Ecosystemen Mentale Gezondheid. VeranderAteliers ontwikkelen vanuit de GEM waarden inhoudelijke praktijken, ‘op maat gemaakt’ voor een lokale of regionale context. Wetenschappelijk onderzoek gaat aantonen of GEM werk. Landelijke partners helpen om drempels weg te nemen en volgende transformatie stappen voor te bereiden.
