Das Sommerfestival «Em Bebbi sy Jazz» findet jeweils am ersten Freitag nach den Basler Schulsommerferien statt – seit 1984.
In einem Rayon von 700 mal 700 Meter spielen über 70 Bands mit über 700 Musikerinnen und Musikern während 7 Stunden Jazz in allen Facetten. Eine Breite und Vielfalt an Musik, durch regionale Amateure und Profis gespielt, die seinesgleiches sucht.
«Tribute to…» war das «FOCUS» Thema 2022 entschieden, das unzählige Welthits grosser Stars von den Bühnen erklingen lassen liess – The
Police, Pink Floyd, U2, Supertramp, Amy Winehouse uvm.
Die beliebten Streetbands eröffnen den «Bebbi Jazz» traditionell um 18
Uhr mit einer kleinen «Streetparade» durch die Freie Strasse.
Mit mehr als 70 teilnehmenden Bands an rund 30 Spielorten hat «Em Bebbi sy Jazz» eine einzigartige Dimension für einen eintägigen Konzertanlass erreicht, nicht nur in der Schweiz, sondern wohl weltweit. Dass jeweils zwischen 70‘000 und 100‘000 Musikfans alle Konzerte bei freiem Eintritt besuchen können, ist nur möglich dank der grossen Unterstützung durch Sponsoren und Partner.
