After graduating from Indiana University at Bloomington, Hamza worked in corporate America for seven years at Reckitt Benckiser, a CPG company. At Reckitt, Hamza worked across +15 brands, including Lysol, Mucinex, Airwick, and Finish, across seven different roles. In his final year performance review at Reckitt, he was ranked as an outperformer, a rating reserved for the top 1% employees. In 2020, after seven years, he left the USA and his corporate job to help serve his country and returned to Pakistan.
In 2020, he was appointed as Special Advisor to the Minister of Science and Technology (S&T) in Pakistan and later promoted to Director of Strategic Initiatives to Minister. At S&T, He led and worked on policy initiatives such as civilian drone policy, disruptive technologies, and electric vehicle policy. He also led the team working on the Pakistan electronic voting initiative (EVM's). In April 2021, he was appointed Director of Strategic Initiatives to the Minister of Information & Broadcasting before joining Harvard Kennedy School.
Hamza is a Harvard graduate and went to the Kennedy School of Government (HKS) for his Master's in Public Administration (MPA). At HKS, he was an Edward. S Mason Fellow with a focus on public policy, leadership, negotiation, and technology. Hamza Haroon has had the rare and prestigious honor of addressing the graduating class of 2022 at the Harvard Kennedy School graduation ceremony.
Hamza writes on critical policy matters for national newspapers (The News and Tribune). He is currently working on teaching executive training on adaptive leadership and public narrative, partnering with leading national universities and corporations.
Hamza is an avid golfer. He was crowned the National Junior Golf Champion of Pakistan in 2007, he later represented Pakistan at the World Junior Golf Championships in USA.
