It may seem obvious when we say that a need or problem encourages creative efforts to meet the need or solve the problem. Unfortunately, that did not seem to be the case when it comes to recruiting quality digital marketers.
There was an obvious pain in the market but nobody had put in the effort to solve this. Coming from a cumulative digital marketing experience of about 22 years, we had experience from both sides of the table.
While we were hunting jobs we were only offered either an irrelevant offer which is not aligned with our skills or an underpaid job profile. As if dodging spammy calls was not enough it got to a point where we used to get offers for technical roles.
On the other hand, when we were working for top startups or while running our own, we encountered the vacuum that is left in the market due to a lack of exclusive efforts. We would end up only with “certified” digital marketers who had almost zero practical knowledge or any kind of track record.
We identified this as two problems. 1. There is a huge dearth of good quality, hands-on digital marketing training. 2. There is a void and lack of exclusivity for digital marketers and their careers considering how vast this industry is.
To solve the first problem we went on to create the largest digital marketing community in India and provide high quality, in-depth and hands-on digital marketing training through Learn Digital Marketing.
Added to this, the thought leadership that has been extended to this industry from Deepak Kanakaraju through his blog Digital Deepak has created a new benchmark in the industry.
Once we realized that the recruitment industry was a classic chicken and egg problem, we knew we had solved half of the problem by creating a pool of candidates. Now, all we had to do is to create a platform for hiring.
That’s how Hire Digital Marketer was born.
