Examples of products and processes that have co-developed are: various high quality nutrients for fermentation; an economical process for the bioproduction of optically pure lactic acid; the engineering of (proteolytic) enzymes to degrade biomaterials under extreme conditions; enzyme libraries; libraries of unique microorganisms; a screening system for the discovery of new antimicrobial agents; etc..
