KiVa is een schoolbreed programma voor het primair onderwijs gericht op positieve groepsvorming en het verbeteren van de sociale veiligheid. Binnen KiVa ligt de nadruk op de groep als geheel, en dus niet op individuen zoals pesters, slachtoffers, populaire kinderen of kinderen die weinig vriendjes en vriendinnetjes hebben. Vandaar ons motto: samen maken we er een fijne school van!
KiVa is het eerste en enige programma in Nederland op het gebied van sociale veiligheid en pesten waarvan wetenschappelijk is bewezen dat het werkt! Uit onderzoek blijkt onder meer dat op KiVa-scholen:
- kinderen zich prettig en veilig voelen en dat er aanzienlijk minder wordt gepest (63% afname),
- kinderen meer positieve relaties hebben, zich beter kunnen inleven en sociaal vaardiger zijn,
- kinderen samen problemen oplossen en er minder ruimte wordt ingenomen door (groeps)problemen,
- er een beter leerklimaat is dat zorgt voor betere leerprestaties,
- leerkrachten beter en positiever worden beoordeeld door kinderen.
