Unblended textiles made of 100% natural fibres such as wool, cashmere, mohair and linen have become rare. This is because nature cannot cope with the increasing amount of fast fashion we consume. Polyester, a plastic derived from crude oil, is filling this demand-supply gap because it’s inexpensive and it blends easily with natural fibres. Check the fabric tags on your clothes and you will discover that clothes are increasingly made of mixed fibres with polyester, a harmful pollutant to the environment. Lanotta strongly opposes blending polyester in textiles and only uses 100% natural fibres that are fully biodegradable and recyclable. We believe in creating high-quality fashion and homeware using production methods that care for the animal, the environment and the people who make it. Our wool is sourced from animal-friendly farms and mulesing free. Small-scale production and craftsmanship are at the core of our design and manufacturing process that takes place at traditional mills in the British Isles. Our textiles are woven at the very same mills that blend and spin the wool reducing the environmental impact of transportation between different production units.
