Der Maker-Space Bonn e.V. ist ein Ort zielgerichteten Lernens und freien Experimentierens. Die Räume des Vereins sind ausgezeichnet ausgestattet und verfügen unter anderem über 25 3D-Drucker, Leih-Notebooks, Klassensätze von Mikrocontrollern (Arduino/ESP, Calliope mini/ sen-seBox, etc.), eine Schreinerei, ein Virtual Reality Labor, Artificial Intelligence Experimente, eine Metallwerkstatt, Nähmaschinen, Lasercutter, CNC-Fräsen und vieles mehr.
Der Maker Space Bonn, der in einem Gebäude der Deutschen Telekom beheimatet ist, ist in der Stadt ausgezeichnet vernetzt und verfügt über gute Kontakte zu Arbeitgeber*innen, Universitäten, Museen und Schulen, wodurch viele interessante und innovative Projekte aus der Praxis zur Verfügung stehen.
Im Maker Space entstehen kostengünstige Formate, wie etwa „One Robot Per Child“. Jeder Jugendliche bekommt einen eigenen Roboter mit Sensorik (ab 15€ pro Stück!). Damit lernen sie Programmieren, „Internet of Things“ und die „Cloud“ selbst zu nutzen. Darüber hinaus finden im Maker Space mehrtägige Hackdays mit Schulen, Schüler*innenpraktika und Lehrer*innenfortbildungen statt.
Der Maker-Space Bonn ist zudem als einziges deutsches FabLab in den EU-Projekten: iProduce (Innovation mit Klein- und Mittelstand) und PopMachina (zirkuläre Wirtschaft) Aktiv. Er wird für seine Aufwände bei iProduce entschädigt.
