“Help will always be provided to those who ask for it”- Much like Hogwarts, IIM Ahmedabad too has this philosophy, and the Mentorship Cell tries to give this vision shape and direction.
While people from different backgrounds enter this institute at different stages of their career with different goals and ambitions, one thing is common for everyone- the transformation in the course of this journey. The academic rigour, the all-nighters, the competitions and club activities, the friendships and everything else that comes in these two years would ensure that you have one hell of a rollercoaster ride. On one day you might feel invincible like Iron Man, while on the next day you might hit rock bottom- or as Rachel Green says, “There’s rock bottom, then 50 feet of crap, then me.”
But at no point would you have to go through these ups and downs all by yourself. The Mentorship Cell was started by the class of 2012 to support students in all their endeavours at IIMA. Since then, the Mentorship program has evolved each year and benefitted thousands of students. Every mentor has been in the shoes of a mentee and understands all the emotions that the mentee would experience- euphoria, panic and everything in between.
The role of a mentor is threefold. First, a mentor would be possibly one of the first friends on campus and would help one become comfortable with the new lifestyle that awaits one. Second, a mentor would answer all of one’s queries, address one’s concerns and help one realize one’s true potential at IIMA. Third, a mentor would help one inculcate the IIMA culture, which has been transcended across generations!
