De Modestraat is een artistieke broedplaats én een ontmoetingsplek voor de buurt op het Buikslotermeerplein in Amsterdam-Noord. In onze ateliers hebben zowel kunstenaars als sociale ondernemers een werkplek. Bij Bakkie Noord kun je terecht voor een koffie verkeerd of of een verse tosti met zelfgemaakt ketchup. En in de Wisselboetiek ruil je je kleren voor een nieuwe vintage vondst. Bij het naaiatelier kun je leren hoe je van die vondst een compleet nieuwe creatie maakt.
De Modestraat functioneert ook als buurtlab. Alle kunstprojecten staan in het teken van meedoen en samen ontdekken. Ze vinden plaats in en om het Buikslotermeerplein en draaien om de gedeelde ervaring. Zo leren buurtgenoten elkaar beter kennen en wordt de sociale cohesie verstrekt. De projecten zijn laagdrempelig, maar hebben altijd een artistieke invalshoek. Dat maakt de Modestraat bijzonder. Een mooie mix van uitgesproken sociale en culturele initiatieven. Samen verrijken we de buurt en vormen we nieuwe gemeenschappen.
