I’ve been a secondary school teacher since 2004 and really loved it. But, since having a family, I felt I needed to give up my work in school so I could dedicate more time to bringing up my own children. However, I couldn’t just not teach! Tutoring is a perfect opportunity to help students who need just that little bit more time and help, and I love being able to provide that one-to-one support. The results I regularly see are often as dramatic as they are heart-warming. Helping a student to succeed is such a great thing to be able to do, and it happens all the time. IS SOME EXTRA HELP NEEDED? Perhaps your son/daughter is finding their AS / A level course a bit challenging? Are the essays not reaching high enough grades? Would they benefit from help with planning, structure and/or revising the right things? Maybe you have a child leading up to their GCSE's and they have texts they don’t fully understand? Do they need help understanding the requirements for the different exam papers? Could they use some guidance when it comes to revision? Or maybe you have little ones who are under-performing in their literacy or they need to prepare for a public/grammar school entrance exam? Is spelling, grammar and punctuation an issue in their writing? Maybe they are losing confidence or you are concerned that their achievement is not where it should be? I CAN DEFINITELY HELP I am an Assistant Headteacher currently on a career break with 13 years experience of teaching English to a variety of abilities and ages; from 6th form to Year 5. I have also had direct experience in implementing dramatic school improvement across a number of secondary and middle schools and have regularly been observed delivering creative, innovative and engaging lessons that have been consistently graded outstanding. My aim is to always make learning effective, creative and ultimately rewarding for your child as they make noticeable progress.
