The National Centre for Mathematics Education (NCM) is commissioned by the Swedish government to coordinate, support, develop, carry out and follow up initiatives promoting Swedish mathematics education in pre-school, school and adult education, and to stimulate and disseminate research in mathematics education in Sweden.

NCM is also engaged in in-service training of mathematics teachers, in cooperation with school authorities and municipalities, and many other activities.
