Having a brain wired to take in more information and a nervous system that’s highly responsive means the HSP has an evolutionary advantage, keeping themselves and those around them safe. In our fast-paced modern society, however, they’re a fast-track to overstimulation.
It’s the consistently overwhelmed HSP who can then suffer from anxiety, depression and burn-out.
Common struggles HSPs experience:
Overthinking, playing small, not having the courage to put themselves forward for promotion, an inability to say no, boundary setting, taking feedback personally, putting others’ needs before their own, fairness, energy management, lack of validation.
