Nozibusiso Foundation is a South African Non-Profit Company that was founded by Football Journalist, Nozibusiso Sibiya in 2019.
We focus on empowering and uplifting rural children through sports and basic education.
During the Covid-19 lockdown the Nozibusiso Sibiya Foundation collected clothes, toys as well as books to donate to women and children in KwaMbonambi area who were affected by the pandemic. We ran this initiative with the help of our partners in The Roots Women Empowerment Programme in Qatar.
The Foundation’s first initiative was called #DonateABoot, which received more than 50 soccer boot donations from individuals across the country, as well as a donation of 25 soccer boots from Adidas South Africa. This initiative took place from July – December 2019. These boots were then donated to a local football association in EGoyintethe, KwaMbonambi, King Cetshwayo Region in Kwazulu Natal.
The Foundation hosted a tournament for the same Local Football Association on the 16th of December 2019 and also added a girls’ team, which consisted of girls under the age of 17.
The tournament was a success with sponsorship from Vodacom NXT LVL.The tournament was aired on a show called Ibhola Lethu on Supersport, where Sibiya was interviewed by Baba Mthethwa. Nozibusiso further had interviews on Metro FM on the Women In Sports Wednesday show with Lebo Motsoeli, Kaya FM with Mosibodi Whitehead, Unisa Radio, Ikhwezi FM as well as Radio 702.
