The research group PhysToFish, based in the Faculty of Biology, was founded in 1998 by professors José Luis Soengas and Jesús Míguez. Since then it has incorporated other professors and have trained 17 national and international researchers. Today, the group consists of four Professors in the Physiology area Biology (Department of Functional Biology and Health Sciences) as well as 4 postdoctoral researchers and 3 PhD students.
The group has been recognized as a reference group (group with growth potential) by the Xunta de Galicia and belongs to the Marine Research Centre of the University of Vigo.

El grupo de investigación PhysToFish, ubicado en la Facultad de Biología, se fundó en 1998 por los profesores José Luis Soengas y Jesús M. Míguez. Desde entonces ha ido incorporando otros profesores y se han formado en el mismo 17 investigadores nacionales e internacionales. Hoy en día, el grupo lo constituyen cuatro profesores del área de Fisiología (Departamento de Bioloxía Funcional e Ciencias da Saúde) así como 4 investigadores postdoctorales y 4 doctorandos.
El grupo ha sido reconocido como grupo de referencia (grupo con potencial de crecimiento) por la Xunta de Galicia y pertenece al Centro de Investigación Marina de la Universidade de Vigo.
