Through fantasy writings and games, I explore heroism as a means of self-improvement, promote mental health awareness, advocate for fair play, and foster creativity. I also showcase tools, resources, and individuals that empower personal growth and enhance gaming experiences. The tavern itself is a mystical place that exists at the crossroads between our real ‘Primary’ world and the fantastical ‘Secondary’ world of heroic adventures and wild imagination! The great J.R.R. Tolkien himself used these terms, of Primary and Secondary Worlds, during an academic lecture where he set out to define and advocate for the very concept of the genre of fantasy itself. “Fantasy (in this sense) is, I think, not a lower but a higher form of Art, indeed the most nearly pure form, and so (when achieved) the most potent..” ~ J. R. R. TOLKIEN It is in journeying through the fantasy of these Secondary Worlds that we learn of the courage, kindness, hope, and justice it takes to face the difficulties of our Primary Worlds.
