Seit 1992 hat Remar ihren Hauptsitz im Industriequartier an der Ifangstrasse in Schwerzenbach. Bis Ende 2013 befand sich dort nebst Büro und Wohngemeinschaft ein Brockenhaus. Inzwischen wurde dieses nach Zürich Altstetten verlegt, wo weiterhin viele einzigartige Gegenstände aus zweiter Hand zum Verkauf stehen.
Remar arbeitet fast ausschliesslich mit ehemaligen Drogenabhängigen und steht zu ihrer christlichen Überzeugung. Gegründet wurde Remar vor über dreissig Jahren in Spanien.
Weltweit ist Remar in über 70 Ländern aktiv im Kampf gegen die Drogen und im Einsatz für Randständige. Sie betreibt Gassenküchen, ernährt Strafgefangene, führt Kinderheime und Frauenhäuser. Allein in Burkina Faso, Westafrika, haben inzwischen über 1000 Kinder ein Zuhause gefunden. Mit dem Erlös aus den Brockenhäusern, Hausräumungen und Wohnungsreinigungen, sowie Kinderpatenschaften und Spenden werden die Hilfsprojekte finanziert. Einen Lohn erhalten die Mitarbeiter nicht, dafür Kost und Logis. Unsere Stärken sind Transparenz und schlanke Strukturen – wir garantieren dass 100% Ihrer Spende am Bestimmungszweck ankommt.
