REWIRE is an Innovation and Knowledge Centre (IKC) funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and Innovate UK, both part of UK Research and Innovation, looking to develop pioneering semiconductor technologies and new electronic devices to accelerate the UK’s net zero ambitions.
Our mission is to become the go-to centre of excellence nationally and internationally for next-generation power electronics by combining research excellence with technology translation and innovation, driven by industrial engagement and collaboration.
We are aiming to transform the next generation of high voltage electronic wide and ultra-wide band gap compound semiconductor devices into the technologies of tomorrow, delivering new products to the market and economic growth for the UK semiconductor sector. The IKC will foster a collaborative, inclusive and innovative environment to nurture the next generation of semiconductor materials scientists and engineers.
The REWIRE program is led by world-leading academic teams at the University of Bristol, the University of Cambridge and the University of Warwick, and has been co-created with industry partners across the breadth of the semiconductor supply chain. By combining academic expertise and capability with industry insights, we aim to reduce risks and accelerate the development of semiconductor technologies.
