موسسه پژوهشی علوم و صنایع غذایی به عنوان یکی از مراکز پژوهشی وابسته به وزارت علوم، تحقیقات و فناوری به منظور پاسخگویی به بخشی از نیازهای پژوهشی کشور از سال 1385 به عنوان پژوهشكده مستقل ملي و داراي مصوبه قطعي از شوراي گسترش آموزش عالي، فصل نوینی از فعالیت های خود را آغاز نمود. سوابق فعالیت های این پژوهشکده به سال1360 برمی گردد که در ابتدا با نام سازمان پژوهشهای علمی و صنعتی ایران (مرکز خراسان) فعالیت خود را شروع نمود. پژوهشکده علوم و صنایع غذایی، سازمان پژوهشی منحصربفردي است که به انجام پژوهشهای کاربردی و فناورانه، پشتیبانی تجاری سازی دستاوردهای پژوهشی، تربیت پژوهشگر و ارائه مشاورههای تخصصی به مراکز تولیدی، پژوهشی و سایر سازمانهای مرتبط می پردازد و با بکارگیری و توسعه دانش و فناوری روزآمد در جهت ارتقاي سلامت و امنیت غذایی اهتمام میورزد.
