A Sage for Startups provides what we refer to simply as "Get There!" consulting for early stage startups and other businesses struggling to obtain key milestones.
We are sometimes asked: "What do you specialize in?" The answer surprises some - we specialize in figuring out "What's next? What's after that? And after that?" We bring an umbrella of perspective that allows us to spot missing items, or tendencies that most entrepreneurs have to focus on what they like or are good at rather than what needs to be done. As appropriate, we identify the need for other specialists such as drop in CFO's, Lawyers, Marketers and Pitch Coaches, and we cultivate relationships with several providers in each specialty so we can match specific industry and personality types to our clients.
How We Engage:
For most clients, we recommend our first engagement be through a "Startup Assessment". We will provide you a set of questions about your business. Sometimes this will involve "homework" in the form of you answering some questions for yourself that you might think you know, but have never codified into something solid enough to relate to others. When we receive the responses, we'll set up a 2 hour window for an advisory session. What comes out of that session is highly variable, and depends on what stage of business development you're in, and what gaps we find in the earlier stage of the process. We'll then follow up with a synopsis of what we found and next steps for you and your business.
After the initial assessment, we generally work hourly or on a retainer basis.
