SHS Delft, Stichting Herontwikkeling tot Studentenhuisvesting, richt zich op de transformatie van leegstaande panden tot (studenten)huisvesting. De oplossing voor het kamertekort onder studenten en het verminderen van de leegstand in Delft vinden wij in het combineren van deze vraagstukken.
Naast huisvesting voor studenten richt de stichting zich ook op andere actuele maatschappelijke problemen: het tekort aan betaalbare woningen voor economisch daklozen; de vergrijzing en de vereenzaming van ouderen; onvoldoende woongelegenheid voor jongeren met een fysieke of mentale beperking; huisvesting voor studenten sport- en cultuurverenigingen in Delft en de beperkte duurzame mogelijkheden voor zeer tijdelijke transformatieprojecten.
SHS Delft ziet het als een uitdaging om deze actuele vraagstukken beet te pakken. Wij zien toekomst in de transformatie van leegstand vastgoed naar huisvesting voor doelgroepen met een moeilijke positie op de huisvestingsmarkt. Door tijdelijke huisvesting, van 5 tot 10 jaar, kunnen wij in ieder geval een deel van het probleem opvangen. Daarnaast kunnen wij vastgoedbeheerders langer de tijd geven om na te denken over nieuwe oplossingen over de invulling van hun pand.
Het concept van SHS Delft is om projecten te realiseren en exploiteren op basis van artikel 3.22 van de Wet Ruimtelijke Ordening. Dit artikel stelt ons in staat een tijdelijke ontheffing te krijgen van het bestemmingsplan, waardoor wij een minder langdurig planvormingstraject hebben tot realisatie, en zijn wij in staat sneller in (studenten)huisvesting te voorzien.
