Sound Foundations works with vulnerable and disadvantaged children and their parents/carers across Europe. We harness the power of music to benefit health, wellbeing and education, improving life chances through creative music projects.
Sound Foundations was co-founded in January 2020 by Helena Pearce and Simon Lock, two musicians and educators with a commitment to harnessing the transformative power of music to bring about real change for children and young people in challenging and disadvantaged circumstances.
Inspired by our work with internationally-reknowned creative music leaders, health and wellbeing organisations and community youth groups, we deliver programmes that work with children and young poeple, their families and carers, teachers and the wider community.
We deliver face to face and multimedia virtual support programmes in the UK and across Europe, using creativity, musicianship and the arts as a vehicle to build self-confidence, self-awareness and a sense of place in the community. Through activities that develop a toolkit of strategies for dealing with their day to day circumstances, often brought about by long-term trauma, we support young people to build their resilience and grounding , enabling them to overcome challenges and build a better future for themselves and their communities.
Our work is provided at no cost to project participants. We rely on grants, donations and sponsors to cover the cost of our activity.
