"I began stuttering relatively late in childhood. I learned to speak only when it was absolutely necessary and was methodical, sifting out 'problem words' and running through what I wanted to say several times in my head before saying it aloud. It was exhausting.
I learned about the speech therapy profession in high school and knew instantly it was my calling.
Becoming a speech-language pathologist allowed me to guide others as they worked through their own communication disorders. More importantly, it opened my eyes to this reality: what others hear when we speak is just the tip of the iceberg, and addressing what’s beneath the surface is vital to the treatment process. Thus, Start With Speech was born!
