The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC), which is comprised of eight full-time member schools from Minnesota and Wisconsin, began in 1972 as the Twin Rivers Conference and was renamed to its current title in 1983. Bethany Lutheran College, Crown College, Martin Luther College, North Central University, Northland College, the University of Minnesota, Morris, the University of Northwestern, and the University of Wisconsin-Superior make up the league's full-time membership. Joining the UMAC in 2009 as associate members in the sport of football only were Greenville University and Westminster College (Mo.). The UMAC announced the addition of associate members for men's and women's tennis beginning in 2023 including Greenville, Principia College, Webster University and Westminster.
