University of Toronto Frequently Asked Questions and Answers (UTFAQ) is a registered Non-Profit Organization, born out of a student club at the University of Toronto. Starting from 2014 until our amicable dissolution in 2020, UTFAQ was dedicated to assisting international students in navigating the intricacies of campus life and Canadian culture. We strived to eliminate informational asymmetry by providing practical, high-quality information through various channels, including online articles, information sessions, orientations, and more.
Our dedicated editorial team periodically updated a diverse selection of articles and shared authorized pieces from other student clubs to ensure comprehensive coverage of all aspects of university life. In parallel, our offline activities, such as orientations and tax declaration sessions, offered students direct engagement with valuable resources.
UTFAQ's impact over the years has been significant and quantifiable: We published 270+ articles on topics ranging from course introductions to survival guides for freshmen. Our website accumulated over 1,250,000 hits by 2020, with our most popular page reaching 76,659 hits. We hosted annual orientations, information sessions, and other activities. By 2019, our active membership had grown to 38 and continued to increase consistently.
In 2020, as our founders moved on from university life, and with UofT offering many similar services, we made the tough but necessary decision to discontinue UTFAQ. We are immensely proud of our contributions and the difference we made in the lives of students. While UTFAQ is no longer operational, we keep this page active as a testament to our shared history and dedication to aiding students. We will forever remember the positive impact we had and the rewarding experiences we enjoyed while helping students transition smoothly into their new university life and Canadian culture.
