Bootstrap is a decentralized exchange that democratizes investing in private companies. On the exchange, each of the top two thousand private companies has a token, called company tokens. Company tokens are a new type of investment class that is tied to the reputation of a company rather than to the company itself. The price is dictated by the number of buyers and sellers trading that token with Bootstrap's automated market maker. In effect, this means that it is speculators' perception of a company which determines its token’s price.
For example, if SpaceX successfully lands a rocket on mars, more investors should believe in the company, and buy the token, causing the price to go up. By contrast, if one of their rockets explodes, more investors should no longer believe the company, and sell the token, causing the price to go down.
