YBBP's DNA was formed in the NFL Europe through creating NFL standard facilities and driving the commercial- and financial success of the Amsterdam Admirals. With his team Buys developed an innovative template for sports marketing and instigated several new sponsorships, as well as a firm grassroots- and community service program and several strategic media alliances to get 'butts in seats' in the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
Outside work Ronald Buys had an active career in sports. In American Football he won European titles with the Amsterdam Crusaders in 1991 and 1992. Successively he made the switch to bobsleigh and participated in World Cup and the 1995 World Championship races. Buys did one Olympic tour as President of the Dutch Bobsleigh Federation from 2002 to 2006. For Dutch television he is NFL commentator since 1999, currently acting as NFL analyst for ESPN.
