YES Outdoors was founded in the wake of the 2011 London Riots to support disadvantaged young Londoners, especially those at risk of offending, and help them to pursue healthy, positive interests and make better life choices. Our talented team support our amazing young people to raise their aspirations, equip them with skills and tools to improve their confidence, build positive relationships, advance their lives and increase their pro-social behaviour by enabling them to give back to their community. Our wide range of projects provide challenging activities that encourage teamwork and enable achievement. Our initiatives include in-depth mentoring, employability skills coaching, accredited bicycle maintenance courses, a homework club, a boxing academy, sports activities and adventure-based trips and camps. Our focus on adventure and exploration helps our young people develop confidence, self-belief and resilience, and this enables them to feel positive and excited about their future. All our activities are led by supportive, inspiring and qualified role models; our team is non-judgemental, resilient, experienced in the demands of youth work, and all go the extra mile because they truly care about helping young people make positive life choices. We are incredibly proud of the transformations we have helped achieve in our fantastic young people; hundreds have grown from feeling apathetic and ambivalent with few aspirations to feeling proud of their achievements and motivated to succeed further. Our inspirational young people have left gangs, turned away from criminality, re-sat exams and passed, pursued further education and successfully gained meaningful employment. In fact, two highly valued members of our team were themselves once participants on our courses- their ability to inspire other young people is testament to the power and importance of our work.
