I’m currently an Equipment Engineer for IBM at Albany. I work on designing installations of the latest and greatest in semiconductor manufacturing, metrology, and support systems. I have a MEng. in Systems Engineering and Technology Management and a BS in Mechanical Engineering and my favorite superhero is Batman. He’s able to apply his wit and quick-thinking to solve problems and invent cutting-edge technology. All of his gadgets effortlessly accomplish their designed task while being small and efficient enough to fit on his belt and be deployed constantly. Even without the aid of this technology, he can use quick thinking to accomplish whatever task is thrown his way in a clever way. When I’m doing engineering I try to follow this model of outside-the-box thinking to design pieces that are effective and elegant, which reliably accomplish their designed task.My major interests are in mechatronics and artificial intelligence supported systems. This is backed by both my classroom experiences, as well as my extracurricular activities. I love learning; I’ve taken a wide range of classes such as mechanical design, embedded control, robotics, algorithms, and logic. Outside of the classroom, I spent much of my time strengthening my coding knowledge, learning new things, or working in the Rensselaer Motorsport garage.With Rensselaer Motorsport, the Formula SAE team at RPI, I have been the technical director; engine and cooling lead; and the engine, drivetrain, and electrical design lead. I was in charge of overseeing all related subsystem designs and checking for fit within team goals and the rules of the competition as well as coordinating with all subsystems. My most notable projects include manufacturing of suspension members, design of a drag reduction system, manufacturing of exhaust headers, and engine assembly.During the spring of my third year, I designed a surveillance UAV augmented with computer vision for multi-object recognition. This required me to apply a broad spectrum of knowledge in design, packaging, electronics, and deep learning. Most importantly (and most fun) I had to teach myself new skills and solve problems.
