Cyber Crime Unit

Leading a team of investigators, analysts and researchers, I direct investigations and drive the mitigation of complex online criminality, providing a robust response to this continually evolving and sophisticated offending. Planning and implementing covert operations, I utilise innovative techniques to secure evidence and intelligence gathering.I supervise the dissemination of information, overseeing confidentiality and ensuring compliance with strict legislative and regulatory frameworks. I ensure the training, guidance and professional development of my team alongside diplomatic yet robust intrusive supervision to secure integrity and the highest standards of service delivery. • I led a significant transformational project which identified potential working overlaps, vulnerabilities and potential risks. My activity contributed to improved efficiency, economy and cohesion across cybercrime and digital exploitation services.• I lead on the use of technology and digital forensics to identify offenders and generate intelligence around serious organised crime. Driving the Home Office, Protect and Prepare initiative and enhancing cyber security through the application of preventative strategies.• As the Force Digital Media Coordinator, I lead a team of dedicated investigators focusing on digital communication interventions to support dynamic investigations and operations.• I work closely with national and international partners liaising on cases and sharing evolving information and best practice, building and maintaining supportive, yet appropriately inquisitive, relationships to secure positive outcomes. During this time, I was selected to serve at the higher rank of Detective Chief Inspector, leading around 50 officers, I managed the organisational crime response. Responsible for the direction and strategy throughout all crime management, I ensured threat, harm and risk was appropriately assessed, reviewed and that all legal compliance was met.

Criminal Investigation Department

Leading a staff of 40 across numerous teams, I directed proactive and reactive investigations, from serious and complex to volume crime offending, ensuring the delivery of effective investigation, evidence gathering and forensic management. Developing operations, I briefed and influenced at the most senior levels, successfully mitigating emerging risk and threat and actively developed team expertise and enhanced performance.

Cyber Crime Unit

Leading a team, I was tasked to challenge the increasing occurrence of online offending. Driving the effective use of technology and developing techniques to identify and pursue offenders, I generated proactive approaches to identify and mitigate risk around emerging technologies.

Specialist Crime Operations

Utilising my extensive training and experience intelligence and evidence gathering in covert policing, I provided specialist advice to senior investigating officers across the organisation. I managed and coordinated the deployment, welfare and evidential resilience for all covert operations. Serving on panels and groups including the National Undercover Working Group, I contributed to the national development of standards and to the protocols for covert policing training and candidate selection.

Criminal Investigation Department

I held responsibility for investigations from initial planning and strategy setting, investigating lines of enquiry to presenting evidence at Crown Court. I investigated cases from fraud and acquisitive crime through to sexual and drug offences, consistently delivering exceptional standards of evidence.

Force Level 1 Surveillance Unit

I was tasked to gather, assess and disseminate intelligence drawn from surveillance operations; exercising discretion, confidentiality and exceptional communication and organisational skills to manage high risk situations. I disrupted serious criminality from robberies to organised crime gang activity and contributed to counter terrorism operations. As a surveillance trainer, I developed new surveillance officers, provided ongoing training for established officers and contributed to the national training programme.

Operational Policing

Working as part of a response team, I was tasked with the response to critical incidents. I demonstrated a thoughtful and considered approach, managing a diversity of issues, influencing effectively and processing information quickly and accurately.
