Royalty And Specialist Protection Command (Rasp)

I served in various roles within this specialist command:Close Protection Team - I managed a highly secure protection operation surrounding Tony Blair after his service as UK Prime Minister. Working in close liaison with national and international law enforcement agencies, military and governmental partners, I ensured a safe environment for him and his family on a 24 hour basis. I oversaw this protection domestically and globally, managing sensitive and regular deployments throughout the Middle East; assessing and developing highly confidential intelligence to react to fast moving intelligence landscapes. I worked in partnership with event organisers and security providers; securing appropriate resources for global operations to successfully manage critical incident and business continuity arrangements. Protection Coordination - UK and Global - As lead coordinator, I was tasked to plan and implement complex operations both nationally and internationally. I led threat and vulnerability assessments, to consider forward planning around resourcing and the management of hugely varying requirements in diverse environments. This role required exceptional diplomacy to resolve issues of security in high risk, often hostile, locations.Training and Development - As the RaSP command training lead, I held responsibility for the design, delivery, benchmarking and development of all training. This included ongoing review of current practice and the identification of evolving needs and best practice protocols. I ensured delivery of the most effective and relevant training for a range of specialist skills. As the command lead for the delivery of the National Protection Officers Course, I devised and delivered a highly successful mentoring and practical training programme to support officers newly attached to the command.

Royalty And Specialist Protection Command (Rasp)

I led a counter reconnaissance team, directing covert intelligence gathering to ensure the safety of principals. I managed operations, briefing and controlling specialist officers, whilst actively deploying and responding to continuously evolving needs. On identifying potential vulnerabilities, I designed improved protection protocols, writing robust policies to meet legal compliance and develop further resilience. I also planned and delivered covert security arrangements for events including, the visit of President Putin, the 2010 General election, G20 Summits and State Visits; providing covert close protection for Ministers, Presidents and Heads of State.

Proactive Street Crime Unit

I led a proactive covert unit, tasked to mitigate and prevent violent thefts. I designed and implemented a programme to deliver a holistic approach to street crime; working in successful partnership with the local authority and probation services. This activity secured a significant reduction in crime and increased detection rates; enhancing community satisfaction. I also served in a specialist unit, leading on the intelligence gathering and planning and implementing operations to challenge robbery and burglary offending across a busy London borough.

Territorial Support Group

I served in this fast response unit addressing challenging, dangerous and high pressure situations across London and the UK. I brought a calm and reasoned approach to manage demanding and heightened situations. I was tasked to gather, research and utilise intelligence and was engaged in protracted and challenging surveillance operations. I worked in liaison with a variety of partners, providing support to numerous units throughout the UK, from covert surveillance environments to counter terrorism commands, murder squads and specialist gang investigation units.

Operational Policing - London

I began my service as a constable, moving through a wide foundation of training and development. I worked in a range of roles including as a response officer, tasked with the immediate management of critical incidents and operational activities; often under pressure of time and tight budgetary constraints. I brought an assured leadership approach, demonstrating an ability to manage a diversity of issues, influence widely and to process information quickly and accurately.
