Managing information in relation to HM Prisons, I research and disseminate intelligence around medium and high risk individuals and risk and threat operations. I conduct sensitive and demanding research, ensuring adherence to all legal and ethical requirements. Liaising with key partners in the HM Prison Service, UK Security Services and the Border Agency, evaluating and sanitising reports to manage evolving national threat.

Working within this fast time unit, I responded to critical incidents across London, from terrorist attacks to threat to life, serious crimes in action and high risk missing people. Providing a London wide 24/7 view of threat, I provided intelligence analysis of those involved in these events, offering information to policing teams to inform accurate decision making. I worked in liaison with mental health charities, Crimestoppers, HM Custom and Excise, the Border Agency, councils and policing partners to provide robust safeguarding and a view on individuals posing significant public threat.

In addition to my regular duties, I was selected to become a licensed search officer, conducting searches of premises and large geographic areas. I provided assurance through detailed offensive and defensive search operations. This included resilience around counter terrorism, crime, high risk land and water operations and public order events and incidents.

I worked in a variety of roles during this time: Response - Tasked with the immediate response to critical incidents, I managed a diversity of issues and processing information quickly and accurately, delivering a considered and constructive approach to this diverse, fast time, demanding role. Borough Support Unit - Working on an on-call basis, as part of this dynamic team, I provided public order response. Tasks included the execution of extreme risk arrests and warrants, public order aid throughout London and proactive support to drug and organised crime operations. Missing Persons - I coordinated and led investigations to secure positive outcomes around high risk missing persons. I ensured that time critical enquiries were managed as a priority, leading multi-agency working and securing adherence to ‘golden hour ‘principles to capture intelligence. Operations Room - After extensive training, I served within a special operation room setting as a call receiver and despatcher. I demonstrated the ability to think quickly and accurately; bringing a clear and calm approach to ensure the most appropriate responses were consistently implemented.

Working in a busy and diverse area, I managed local concerns and investigated crime. I exercised diplomacy and a real interest in local issues that affected residents. I demonstrated exceptional conflict management skills and an ability to connect meaningfully with people even in the most challenging of circumstances. I worked in liaison with a range of partners and organisations serving community needs and delivering robust safeguarding. I encouraged community involvement in policing initiatives, supporting the timely and effective exchange of information.

Working throughout London, I managed a range of issues across the transport network. This ranged from the investigation of crime and the smooth running of the network. I also worked with a specialist team targeting unlicensed taxi drivers who were unvetted and uninsured.

I responded to the south east London road network incidents and implemented preventative strategies. I managed and investigated road traffic collisions and incident scenes; working in fast time to secure evidence, manage witnesses and promote traffic flow. I established and maintained resilient relationships with partners across the road network; working to secure the most successful and timely outcomes following complex, challenging and often traumatic incidents. I consistently demonstrated a thoughtful and considered approach to support often traumatised individuals.

I undertook a range of roles and training, developing a strong foundation of enquiry, observation and personal interaction. I worked in a broad series of operational roles, including as a response officer tasked with the immediate management of critical incidents and operational activities. I was selected to work on various specialist teams: Probationer Trainer - Selected to guide, mentor and train newly appointed constables, I planned operational activities to develop understanding and supported developmental goals. Prisoner Processing Team - I contributed to the establishment of the first City of London specialist prisoner team. Providing a link between custody and the Crown Prosecution Service, I oversaw the progression of cases, reviewing and directing lines of investigation. Home Office Large Major Enquiry Systems (HOLMES) - As a researcher for investigative teams, I gathered information and developed a view of connections between events and individuals.Traffic - Interceptor Team - I utilised ANPR data to assist investigations and provide leads around lost, stolen or suspicious vehicles and prolific offenders. Analysing crime patterns, I assessed and gathered intelligence to deliver improved outcomes and guide effective decision making.
