Americorps Vista: Family Well-Being Coordinator At The Latin American Association

• Developed the capacity of the LAA’s Family Well-Being department’s focus area through new long-term partnerships, collaborations and coordination of services; created 10 new partnerships; promoted and supported department by going to diverse outreach events and meetings reaching more than 2,416 individuals.• Formed a mental health support group for DACA recipients that meet 1-2 times a month• Recruited, trained, and managed LAA’s Family Well-Being volunteers and interns; recruited 5 interns and 3 daily receptionist volunteers.• Coordinated and set up Pre-Natal Care workshops, in Spanish in collaboration with Healthy Mother Healthy Babies, and set up and recruited nurses to have 4 clinical breast exam days - all to support the annual Hispanic Health Expo, which connects a variety of area health care providers with Latino individuals and families in need of services, information and education, all across the South East.• Formed, The Latino Newcomers Guide to Georgia, a resource guide that will be published and distributed to help guide and connect the metro-Atlanta Latino community to bilingual services in their area and aid them in navigating the systems of housing, healthcare, employment, education, public transportation and immigration in Georgia.
