I am a skilled designer who offers a passionate talent for solving an array of design challenges ranging from objects to complete environments. Some examples include, architectural & environmental pieces, detailing, furniture, casework, lighting, products and project management. I am adept at hand sketching and I am currently using Rhino 3D for more refined results. I have extensive hands-on history working with fabricators and suppliers and know how to get a prototype, one off or roll-out done for just about anything you can draw on a napkin.

Architectural Designer - Starbucks Global Concept Design and Starbucks Creative Group Created comprehensive retail coffee house environments, kiosks, events and components as a key member of cross-functional in-house creative design teams. • Worked directly with manufacturers as a key member of Starbucks cross-functional design teams from ideation to design development and through prototyping and production for many successful initiatives, including; the New York Times newspaper fixture and the Coffee Floor Stand fixture. Both pieces were rolled out nationally and became standard store components.• Designed Hear Music CD listening stations for the regional pilot program in coffee houses throughout the Northwest. These interactive kiosks were a significant first accomplishment in elevating the profile of Starbucks Hear Music and significantly increased customers’ tendency to listen and purchase.• Designed and detailed architecture, fixtures and casework for the Starbucks Musical Coffee House concept pilot stores launched in Miami and San Antonio. This was another innovation which enhanced the customers’ experience by offering in-store CD listening and personalized CD burning for the first time.• Led the aesthetic development and established the look and feel for the innovative Magistrale espresso equipment.

Designer - Freelance design work for cutting-edge small design firms in Portland Contracted with local design firms on various projects. Noted projects:• Designed and detailed Nixon brand watches kinetic point of purchase display tower for Cinco Design. This piece was well received and rolled out to snow board and skate shops throughout the Northwest.• Designed display venue drawings, details and specifications for the High School Basketball Hall of Fame for Cinco Design and Nike. This venue was successfully built out as a national athletic center piece.• Created display design drawings, detailed components and layout for the Simms trade show booth for FWD Design. This work featured and elevated the product stories and image of this revered fly-fishing brand. • Designed the graphic design studio building conversion and remodel for Out West Design. Produced design drawings and coordinated engineering.

Concept Designer - Nike Travel and Events and Nike Image DesignDesigned premiere environments and product displays for retail spaces and events globally for Nike. • Designed custom seating pods and lounge space for the Nike athlete hospitality venue at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. This clean and refined environment contained innovative product displays and served as a world-class hospitality and press venue for Nike’s elite athletes, coaches and members of the international press.• Created the centerpiece Nike Air display pavilion, supervised and coordinated installation for the over 5,000 square foot Nike Sisel trade show booth in Paris, France. This design work and my personal on-site efforts were crucial to this successful event.• Completely transformed an existing space in downtown Athens, designed multiple product displays, press and hospitality venues for Nike athletes, coaches and the media for the high profile World Track and Field Championships in Athens, Greece. This display and environmental design work and my hands-on assistance and oversight during installation was instrumental to the noted success of this very complex international event.• Designed and detailed custom casework, displays and furniture, including installation and oversight for the Nike Golf Shop at the Doral Golf Resort in Miami, Florida. The attention to detail and hands-on approach was highly regarded by both the staff at Doral and the Design group leadership at Nike.
