I had no intention of dedicating my first professional career to the life-cycle of facilities and cybersecurity of Facility-Related Control Systems / Medical Devices - what does that even mean? Like so many others, I took the first job I could find out of college that paid enough to cover rent and was in the same city as the girl I was dating. It was that simple. And I have never looked back. I began my career as others do, graduated from Penn State with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and took that first job, a ‘lackey’ for a senior engineer. I was given the privilege of doing all the tasks, chores and scut work that he had done a thousand times in his career. I learned at a faster pace about my newly found industry in those first two years then I could have ever imagined… and I was hooked.Fast forward 15 years, through design engineering, construction administration, failing, project management, budgeting, failing, space management and programming, game theory, data analytics, business intelligence, failing, operations and maintenance, big-career-changing contracts, creating a division, growing a company times over again and failing a few more times to keep things interesting.Today, I lead an organization that conceptualizes, develops and implements cybersecurity standards and policy for Facility-Related Control Systems, Medical Devices, Industrial Control Systems, PIT and PIT Systems, Operational Technologies and most generally, the Internet of Things. We challenge the status-quo, we innovate, we are passionate and we fail forward. Tomorrow, I hope to be an amateur race car driver of classic American muscle.
