City Council Member
CurrentIf anyone would have told me that I would be a Councilwoman I would have never believe them, yet here I am! In 2014 I started attending City Council meetings and getting involved in any thing I could in order to better understand what was going on in my community and to know the truth behind the rumors that I was hearing. As a result, it became clear that what my community needed was a change in leadership. We needed leaders that understood that in order to grow we needed to take risks, to think outside of the box, to listen to our community and not have a personal agenda. Little did I know that the change would involve me.In the fall of 2016 many people approached me and asked me to consider running for the spring election. Now I could think of many reasons why I wanted to say no, but after really considering this it became clean that the change needed in our community involved me. I did the necessary steps in order to be placed on the ballot and in the early spring of 2017 the campaigning began. As the underdog in this election, I was campaigning against 2 incumbents, I knew I needed to work very hard if I was going to win. Well, I am no stranger to hard work, so that is what I did. I guess you know what happened on election day? My hard work must have paid off, because I actually beat both incumbents!I absolutely love my role on City Council. With our current leadership focused on what is best for the community we are able to make a lot of progress in a short amount to time. I am humbled and honored that our residents asked me to serve our community and I am very proud to call Collinsville my home.
