In 2007 I started a Computing & Networking course at Teesside University, with one year spent on placement at Sabic Petrochemicals. My placement year accelerated my learning and ability to fit into a working office environment. During this time I discovered that I wanted to take software development as a career choice. I returned to Teesside University to complete my course. I used skills gained on placement to complete both my final year project and a booking system for the NHS. Both systems were well received. The electronic diary, developed as part of a team and competing with other similar systems, was elected as the winning system and was to be installed within the NHS.Before leaving university in 2011 I started at Sapere Software, where I remain today, witnessing and being part of the exciting growth and development of not only web / mobile technology but of a local, home-grown business.
