Profile bio

About Allison Meyers, Ph.D.

I earned my B.S. in biochemistry with a specialization in molecular biology from Loyola University Maryland. While there I worked as a laboratory technician and an honors research student studying innate immune function. I received my Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC. My Ph.D. work focused on the metabolic regulation of the NLRP3 inflammasome during sepsis, and understanding the mechanism of a novel sepsis therapeutic. During my time at Wake Forest I received two NIH training grants, and separately completed a two year certificate in Global Health. After nine years in the lab, I decided to use my scientific background to help create scientifically informed legislation. I completed a one year fellowship in the NJ State Assembly Democratic Office as an Eagleton Science and Policy Fellow and now I am the policy analyst for the Senate Health, Human Services, and Senior Citizens Committee. My specific science policy interest area is global public health, particularly infectious diseases and the impact of climate change on health. For more information about me please contact me via email.
