Here, Alex honed his skills in property development and client relations, setting a strong foundation for future endeavours.In 2001, Alex took a pivotal role with Canberra Airport management, contributing to the team that delivered non-aviation commercial developments on the land surrounding the airport. Alex’s core responsibility was to ensure that these developments were designed to meet market demands as well as identifying and negotiating commercial leases with targeted tenants, including Defence and private sector Defence contractors.In addition to these duties, Alex’s integrative role encompassed working with the team to manage the commercial assets with the aim of retaining tenants and ensure the sustainable growth of the airport's commercial precinct.In 2012, Alex transitioned from Canberra Airport to create the first Laing+Simmons Commercial Property in Canberra, a venture that further showcased his entrepreneurial spirit and industry acumen.
