This was a physically demanding job where I had to quickly develop a new set of skills. My daily tasks included; operating a variety of power tools, public traffic control, relocating materials as well as erecting scaffolding & concrete forms. Safety is a high priority when working on construction sites so I performed regular maintenance checks on tools, scaffolding, machinery and the general work environment.

A busy and popular bar taught me to think on my feet, quickly develop excellent people skills and further my time and money management. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to interact with the public so freely and in a casual manner. I was responsible for media and promotions for the complex, using the tools I studied at university to appeal to future consumers. I monitored and replenished stock levels on a daily basis to maintain a smooth running of sales and reduce unnecessary waste.

I spent 6 months in China teaching English to both children and adults. This role required extensive preparation, clear communication, patience, leadership, organization and flexibility. Adaptability was key when undertaking this position and learning basic mandarin was essential to translate my lessons. Research was important when conducting school plays and shows for the Chinese audience to clearly understand.
