An armed officer, who has successfully completed the required NASA training, with NASA Federal arrest authority, whose duties may include but are not limited to, first response to emergencies, enforces federal law, mobile patrols, inspections and searches, traffic enforcement, and investigations, and other duties as required. In general, officers, assigned to specialized teams will come from this category, e.g. K-9 (other than explosive detection), Emergency Response Units, and marine patrols. SPO are required to have and maintain a TOP SECRET clearance.

Respond to Safety Investigation Board (SIB) requests for assistance in: drafting accurate recommendations, assigning correct OPR/OCR, and assigning AF Forms 847 ACC tracking numbers for SIB recommended changes to AF Publications. Prepares Division-level and Directorate-level coordination for Government approval of final mishap reports. Prepare A3 data for Class A and Class B mishaps for presentation to COMACC (Commander of ACC) at the semi-annual Hazard Review Board (HRB). Prior to the HRB, pre-brief A3TV Branch Chief, A3T, and A3 and gain their concurrence for data prepared for COMACC decision. Track all SIB recommendations that are OPR/OCR’d by A3 and ensures: current status, estimated completion date (ECD), and point of contact (POC) for each recommendation that is updated in Air Force Safety Automated System (AFSAS).

ARL-E Mission System Flight Instructor. Responsible for the training requirements, design curriculum development, validation, and instruction of all DHC-8/RO-6A training materials.
