I was Tactical Team Leader. I was responsible for the training and welfare of 2 soldiers. I made sure the soldiers in my platoon had the medical, weapons, tactical, and psychological operations knowledge to operate and survive in combat operations. I was also the Accountability Non-Commissioned Officer for my Company. My responsibilities include making sure the Alert Roster is updated and that all personal reported for duty and is submitted for pay. During Operation Enduring Freedom 12-13 I was deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan. I was the Battalion PSYOP representative. I helped the Battalion Commander add a PSYOP team/presence to his operations, and was also the Team Leader for Lima Company 3/9 Marines. I briefed Commanders from Captains to Major General on PSYOP capabilities and purpose during operations.

As a Cavalry Scout I was a Driver, Gunner and Team Leader. As a driver I drove Humvee, Strykers, and cargo trucks. I was responsible for conducting preventive maintenance and making sure the vehicles were ready for missions. As a driver I was awarded the Master Drivers Badge.As a gunner I was in charge of all the vehicles weapons and the load plan for ammunition. I made sure all the weapons were clean and in operation at all times. I also made sure the vehicle has the proper amount of ammunition and it was stored properly and safely in the vehicle. A gunners responsibility is to keep the vehicles safe. I scanned the road for IEDs, car bombs, snipers and ambushes. As a Team Leader I was responsible for the Training and Welfare of a Scout Dismounted Team. I leaded raids on target buildings resulting in capture of high value targets. I also made sure all members of my team was qualified and proficient on close quarter battle and close quarter marksmanship.
