Project Experience: • Alum Waters Flood Alleviation Scheme – I completed an investigation into the cause of flooding and pollution on behalf of the client. The scheme then went to optioneering where I was the hydraulic modeler tasked with creating a solution for the flooding. The solution went on to be constructed, and successfully alleviated the flooding and pollution, preventing the client from receiving further fines.• Property Level Protection (PLP) – I acted as project engineer on the PLP scheme, which aimed to protect flooding to single properties whilst investigating the greater issue. My role included liaising with client project managers, being the single point of contact between Stantec and survey team, and sustaining communication with the clients’ customers.• Sunderland Bridge STW – I completed hydraulic modelling on an urgent package of work for the client who are required to abandon a treatment works by the Environment Agency within 12 months. I adapted to the client’s needs and complied within their time constraints. This ensured that the proposed design would work efficiently, according to the hydraulic model.• Urban Pollution Modelling (UPM) – I worked as the sampler and data analyst for the UPM study, which aimed to investigate the high levels of pollution within the Stanley drainage area. I adapted in accordance with the weather forecast to attend site and take water quality samples, both before and after specific assets operated and spilled into the watercourse.
