I am a member of the team of consultants with Craigmyle, the longest established firm of fundraising consultants in the UK with a strongly vocational approach to its work with charities. Led a much-loved, busy charity for the last 10 years. We run community services that support local children, young people and their families, adults, women and refugee communities. We also campaign for social change. And support other charities to start-up and thrive. This enables us to build stronger communities, tackle poverty and reduce isolation in Battersea, south London. We are supported by a network of 60 partners. During my time I've tripled the number of members we work with (5% of local population); increased the income by 250% (to £1.1m 2022/23); grown our unrestricted reserves to 4.5 months; increased our cash position to the equivalent of 10 months running costs; and grown our staff (46) and volunteer (200) team considerably.

To help part-fund LinksUK work I set up a successful social consultancy. Within three years we had an annual turnover of £330K and 26% profit margin. Services included research, evaluation, training, an informal economy measurement service and health screening services. It’s still going today, turning over £1m. Clients included: NHS; GLA; Hestia Housing; Low Pay Commission; Mayor’s Fund for London; IPSOS Mori; Rocket Science; Salford, Hackney, Haringey & Newham Councils.

Led linksUK, the national team of Community Links, which had a team of 22 staff, as well as freelance consultants, interns and volunteers. I was responsible for strategic planning and implementation; people management; fundraising (c. £600k p.a.), contracts and budgeting; project development and management; marketing and delivering our consultancy and training services; leading our research, policy and campaigns; supporting our communications work (online, disintermediation, events). I also supported the organisational development of Community Links as part of the Senior Management Team.

Research, policy and campaigns on policy issues affecting local people including poverty, benefits system, (un)employment, enterprise and housing. We worked closely with DWP and HMRC; MPs and the Lords.
