I have completed a nine month workshop at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that bridges the gap between the level of laboratory skills biology graduates have acquired, to the proficiency level needed to be productive in a research laboratory setting. The course consists of fifteen hands-on laboratory sessions (seventy-five contact hours) covering the latest relevant laboratory techniques in molecular biology. These selected methods have been identified by NIH scientists and private industry representatives to be techniques that research technicians would implement on a day-to-day basis. It also includes weekly lectures on the pertinent topics of study.

I worked in the lab of Dr. Patrick N. Breysse with Christine Torrey taking and categorizing second-hand smoke samples for study.

I worked in the Lab of Dr. Iruka Okeke in the Biology Department of Haverford College and conducted experiments on the autoaggregation of Escherichia coli pertaining to the Hra1 protein. This position included maintenance of a Human Epithelial cell culture, and the staining and photographing of multiple E. Coli clones. This data was then presented as a poster.
