Rusted, bent, dilapidated, and broken; or how I realized my calling face first in the moldy, rotten floor under a toilet. Generally those opening words would not be ones of encouragement much less excitement, but one day I found myself hugging yet another dirty, disgusting commode that had been leaking for the better part of the last century and it dawned on me after more than a decade in construction what it was I should be doing for a living.Building, remodeling, and woodworking are in my blood. I have fond memories as little kid following my dad around his job sites and building LEGO creations while he remodeled homes. From then on I have always had more personal projects than time. Everything from restoring air cooled Volkswagen’s and old, obscure 4x4’s to turning old clear cedar deck boards into vinyl record shelves and re-purposing an early 1900’s Portland warehouse beam into a fireplace mantle. I have always enjoyed creating and re-imagining projects and materials. I have a deep appreciation of early, last century (1900-1950’s) residential architecture and the art that goes in to a well-designed, laid out, and built house. That era of home building showcases the importance of an aesthetically interesting exterior which gives the home its personality and sets the overall tone. At the same time it also highlights the interior flow and finishes that allow it to not only work well but also reflect warmth and a sense of family comfort. My years of experience and interest in past builders and architectural style has helped shape the vision I have for my own building and remodeling practices. In a nutshell I started my own company to have the opportunity to remodel and eventually build new homes utilizing current technologies in energy efficiency and responsible building practices with old world design, craftsmanship and charm.Below are a couple of quick examples of the range of projects we have done
