Software Systems & Technology Analyst
Software and Systems Technology Analyst at Ericsson. At the start of the internship, I upskilled by learning about mobile networks, RAN, availability, and cloud solutions. I created solutions to existing problems within Ericsson, focusing on creating proof of concepts to test their feasibility. This meant designing full systems that met microservice architecture requirements such as scalability and interoperability.During my internship, Ericsson was modernising its business by incorporating microservice technology. To meet system requirements, many technologies were analysed and proof of concepts made used technologies such as: Java Spring, Python, Javascript and React.js.
Full Stack Developer
Full Stack developer at Study.ie. The front end used Javascript, JQuery, and Bootstrap. For the backend, PHP handled database calls to a MySQL database. Multiple iterations were made with user testing of the UX throughout development. This gave insightful opinions about usability and aesthetics which influenced the next iteration. Key to this iterative development was an Agile Scrum methodology, which the entire team followed. As the company was a start-up, it was a fast-paced environment.

Launchbox teams get access to leading industry mentors and investor networks. In a startup environment, the pace is extremely fast and you often contribute to strategies ranging from business and ideation to management and PR. Thanks to Launchbox, I've had access to varied user test groups which have given valuable feedback. In turn, the business skills I've learned have given me a fresh perspective on software product development.
Software Developer
Embedded Systems Engineer
Embedded Systems Engineer as a member of Eirloop, which came Top 5 in SpaceX’s 2018 Global Hyperloop competition and received an award for Innovation. The goal of the competition is to create a train like “pod” which can reach mach speeds in a vacuum tube, as part of Elon Musk’s vision for the future of transportation. Our pod had an expected speed of 500km/h and throughout the year we dedicated our own time to reaching our goal. The final event was held in SpaceX’s HQ in California where the world's best teams competed against each other for the highest speed. I joined February 2018 as an Embedded Systems Engineer and was involved in working with various Microcontrollers and Single Board Computers. On top of this my role entailed the Designing, Soldering and wiring of circuits and low voltage systems. Clean Communications between systems and sub systems was vital for the of triggering fail safes, in the scenario that a fault was detected by our sensors.Furthermore, I was responsible for the high-powered Batteries which powered our pod and the Battery Management Systems. This required a great understanding of said systems and close adherence to safety procedures, given the Highly volatile nature of Lithium Ion Batteries. On top of this I tested and mapped out guidelines on the best operating range’s that met our pod’s performance needs and SpaceX’s specific safety requirements. Team Eirloop was one of only 20 teams chosen to compete in the final, of which there was roughly a thousand entries from across the globe. Despite our first year in the competition and the incredible time and financial restraints we had to overcome, we achieved 5th place and Won an innovation award as an acknowledgement of our monumental efforts.
