Based upon a desire to work in litigation, I became involved within a fantastic opportunity working for Broxtowe Borough Mediation Services. After completing substantial training, I volunteer my time settling neighbourly conflicts. Volunteering as a Mediator is important to me. It provides me the opportunity to give back to the community, making a difference in people’s lives, whilst also doing something I find enjoyable. This extra-curricular commitment towards civil and commercial litigation has enhanced many skills that will support my career as a solicitor. I have demonstrated confidence and problem-solving techniques, as I work towards resolving a wide range of disputes at a relatively young age. I have also understood and appreciated the inherent differences in people. I have become adaptable to deal with different personality traits using a variety of approaches. This experience will support my career as a solicitor when handling clients and working alongside colleagues.

Experience of handling small claims road traffic accident files, within a claimant environment. I work closely with clients, ensuring to build and maintain strong client relationships.I have substantive experience of working in a motor recoveries environment. I am fully acquainted with all the Pre-Action processes, the issuing of claims in the County Court, Judgments and all enforcement methods.Although I have gained technical expertise in the motor industry, I have become more developed in the commercial dispute litigation process. In relation to pre-issue work, I conduct the drafting and serving of letters of the claim and begin settlement negotiations. I also review the file to make the best case to support our client's position. I prioritise files which are due to have a commercial advantage for my employer. Working with insurer clients on road traffic accidents is demanding. I currently file handle over 200 cases. I must be proactive, quick and consistent in my work to make sure I settle and close files in a short amount of time.I deal with inquiries from third parties and liaise with clients to propose, accept and settle files which may not be wholly in our client's favour. I have negotiated admiral settlements when prospects of liability were weak on the client's side.Whilst at DAC Beachcroft, I have taken the responsibility of planning football matches against other local law firms in Birmingham. This, including the importance of the nature of my role, has enhanced my organisational skills.
