At Principal, I had a wide sphere of responsibility including the overall market strategy responsibility for retirement plans of tax-exempt organizations, the development and management of capital preservation products for defined contribution accumulation business, and an overall responsibility as business liaison through government relations for state regulatory and legislative issues. Through my tenure, I successfully:• Grew tax-exempt retirement plan practice from $4 billion AUM to $32 billion AUM.• Established, built and aligned tax-exempt team for sales, marketing, underwriting, product development and operations. Resulted in growth of business and establishing Principal as a key player in tax-exempt markets.• Developed and launched three major guaranteed products which generated total accumulation of $6 billion specific to these products. This represents approximately 15% of total new relationship AUM.• Influenced and educated state lawmakers in several states considering mandated public retirement plans for the private sector.• Testified in legislative committees, and general state board meetings on behalf of Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) and the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) regarding industry position on state-run retirement plans for the private sector.
