My focus is on managing risk as part of an $1B+ engineering firm that employs more than 6,000 individuals across more than 175 offices. Using my experience as a litigator and former federal law clerk, it is my job to get involved early in projects that have gotten off track--for whatever reason--in an effort to steer them back in the right direction. In that respect, my job involves a significant amount of dispute avoidance in addition to traditional dispute resolution. I manage all ongoing disputes and oversee the work of outside counsel. This includes professional liability claims as well as commercial disputes, general liability claims, internal investigations, employment matters, and IP issues. I also lead a number of training sessions for our employees and am a regular presenter at industry conferences. As part of a company that performs approximately 80,000 projects each year in a litigious industry, I pride myself not on the lawsuits we win, but on the lawsuits that are never filed in the first place.

Extensive commercial litigation practice representing both U.S. and non-U.S. clients. Managed all international matters involving EMEA Region. Provided legal services to consulting firm focused on regulated utilities, including corporate matters, contract drafting and negotiations. Assisted regulators as outside legal consultant.• Structured joint venture to market energy conservation product in China, Japan, Singapore, and Thailand. Oversaw negotiations regarding licensing of the intellectual property rights thereto.• Developed and implemented policy strategies for state public service commissions, including analyzing written submissions and drafting proposed commission decisions with regard to regulated telecommunications and energy companies.

Served as law clerk to U.S. District Judge Gary Fenner. Obtained extensive and valuable courtroom experience while being mentored by a highly regarded Federal Judge.• Analyzed, researched, and drafted proposed judicial decisions pertaining to federal civil claims including commercial disputes, class actions, IP disputes, employment disputes, and numerous other federal claims.• Provided assistance to Judge Fenner throughout jury trials, hearings, and conferences.
